This summer, The Jayson Tatum Foundation’s Annual New Backpack & School Supplies Collection reached new heights, transforming a back-to-school giveaway into an unforgettable experience for hundreds of children and families in St. Louis. Expanding beyond its traditional mission of providing essential school supplies, the 2024 edition introduced the first-ever “Tatum Games”, a festive, Olympic-style competition packed with fun, teamwork, and friendly rivalry.
Serving children from Wohl, Tandy, and Cherokee Recreation Centers, the event embodied Jayson Tatum’s commitment to education, youth empowerment, and community engagement. In addition to receiving a full arsenal of back-to-school essentials, including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, folders, and more, participants were treated to an exciting day of interactive games and challenges, designed to inspire confidence, teamwork, and leadership.
In honor of the 2024 Olympic Games, the Tatum Games featured a variety of competitions, from basketball shooting contests and relay races to obstacle courses and tug of war challenges. Kids had the chance to compete, earn medals, and most importantly, celebrate the excitement of learning and growth in a positive, high-energy atmosphere. The fun-filled event wasn’t just about getting school supplies—it was about building memories, fostering community spirit, and setting the tone for a successful school year.
“We want these kids to go into the school year feeling confident and ready to take on anything,”Jayson Tatum shared. “It’s not just about the supplies—it’s about showing them that they’re supported, that their success matters, and that learning can be fun.”
The 2024 New Backpack & School Supplies Collection and Tatum Games proved to be a game-changer, reinforcing the Foundation’s mission to equip, inspire, and uplift. As families left with backpacks full of supplies and hearts full of excitement, the event once again highlighted the power of community, generosity, and the belief that every child deserves a strong start to the school year.
