OUR MISSION

The mission of The Jayson Tatum Foundation is to positively impact and inspire children, teens and their families through education, athletics and support, and to encourage them to strive to fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The Children Are Our Future

At The Jayson Tatum Foundation, we believe that children and teens are the key to building a brighter tomorrow. Equipping young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to succeed in their personal lives, relationships, education, careers, and life’s purpose is essential to creating and sustaining vibrant families, strong neighborhoods, and thriving communities.

Our mission is to empower youth to be the positive change they wish to see in their world. By providing the tools and resources they need, we strive to inspire them to believe in themselves and their potential to lead healthy, productive lives. We are committed to fostering growth that benefits not only the individual but also their families and the broader community.

The Foundation is dedicated to offering resources, education, and mentorship opportunities that emphasize the importance of rebuilding communities and understanding civic responsibility. Through these efforts, we aim to instill a sense of purpose and leadership in our youth, encouraging them to positively impact their peers, neighborhoods, and generation in meaningful and lasting ways.

Together, we can create a generation of leaders who inspire change, rebuild communities, and prove that anything is possible.

ABOUT

Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum’s love for basketball and deep connection to his hometown of St. Louis began at an early age. From his first experience playing in the YMCA league to competing against older, more experienced players, Jayson was relentless in his pursuit of greatness. His dedication to the game was evident in the countless hours he spent honing his skills, a work ethic that would shape both his career and his character.

While attending Chaminade College Preparatory School, Jayson quickly established himself as one of the nation’s top high school players. His accolades included being named Gatorade Missouri Player of the Year for three consecutive years and earning the prestigious title of Gatorade National Athlete of the Year in his senior year. However, his most cherished high school achievement was leading Chaminade to a Missouri State Championship, a moment that symbolized the teamwork, perseverance, and passion that defined his early career.

Jayson continued his basketball journey at Duke University, where he played under legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski. His standout season was highlighted by the Blue Devils’ ACC Championship victory, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure on one of college basketball’s biggest stages.

In June 2017, Jayson realized a lifelong dream when he was selected third overall in the NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. His impact was immediate—starting every game in his rookie season and playing a crucial role in the Celtics’ thrilling playoff run against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, Jayson has continued to evolve into one of the league’s premier players, earning multiple NBA All-Star selections, All-NBA honors, and leading the Celtics to deep playoff runs. In 2023, Jayson was named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP. His relentless drive and elite performance propelled the Boston Celtics to the 2024 NBA Championship and earned him his 2nd Olympic Gold Medal with USA Basketball, securing his legacy as a champion and further solidifying his place among basketball’s greatest players.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

Beyond the game, Jayson is committed to giving back through The Jayson Tatum Foundation, which supports children, youth, and families through educational initiatives, sports programs, and support through mentorship, and community outreach. Inspired by the values instilled in him by his mother and his faith, Jayson credits his success to hard work, perseverance, and his unwavering belief in God. His favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13—“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”—serves as a guiding principle in both his career and life.

Jayson’s love for his hometown of St. Louis runs deep, shaping both his journey and his unwavering commitment to giving back. For Jayson, giving back isn’t just an obligation—it’s a lifelong mission to uplift the city that helped shape him. Jayson’s journey from a determined young athlete in St. Louis to an NBA superstar and role model is a testament to his resilience, faith, and commitment to making a difference—on and off the court.
