Our Community Showed Up: Tornado Relief Donation Drive Recap

Last Saturday was a powerful reminder of what makes St. Louis so special – our people. In the wake of the devastating tornado on May 16th, our community came together in a big way. Thanks to a partnership between The Jayson Tatum Foundation, St. Louis Area Foodbank, Chaminade College Preparatory School, KMOV First Alert 4, and KTRS, a Tornado Relief Donation Drive was organized to support those most affected by the storms.

And St. Louis showed up.

Thanks to your generosity, more than 52,000 pounds of food, hygiene items, and household cleaning supplies were collected, necessities that will directly help families trying to get back on their feet. On top of that, more than $7,000 was donated to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, ensuring even more targeted support in the days and weeks ahead.

For The Jayson Tatum Foundation, it was an honor to be a part of this collective effort. Jayson has always been proud of his St. Louis roots, and this drive was an integral way we could provide another opportunity for fellow St. Louisans to give back too.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, sorted, packed or simply spread the word. Your compassion and commitment made a difference. And to the volunteers – thank you for giving your time, your heart, and your hands.

There’s still work to do, but this was a huge step forward. Together, we’re proving that no matter what comes our way, St. Louis takes care of its own.
